Fred NIYONZIMA

From the beginning to the end of my studies, I learned the core principles of Health, Safety and Environmental Management. I learned how to identify hazards, assess risks, and apply control measures using the hierarchy of controls. I also learned about safety legislation and standards, incident investigation, emergency preparedness, and workplace inspections and audits. Through my project, I learned how to apply theory in a real workplace by observing conditions, collecting data, analysing findings, and recommending practical improvements. Overall, I gained the knowledge and confidence to promote a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible workplace, and I developed skills in teamwork, report writing and communication.
