Transformation Witnessed: From Course Beginning to End
*At the Beginning of the Course:*
When I started this course, I thought safety was only about wearing PPE like helmets and safety boots. I had very basic knowledge. I did not know about Singapore WSH Act, Risk Management, or the 20 elements of Safety Management System.
This course completely changed my mindset about safety.
*Legal Knowledge:* I learned about WSH Act, WSH Regulations,
*Risk Management:* The most important learning. How to identify hazards, evaluate risk using 5×5 matrix, and control risks using Hierarchy of Controls.
4. *Practical Skills:* I learned about Work Permit System, Hazard Analysis, Accident Investigation, Heat Stress Management, Emergency Preparedness, Control of Hazardous Substances, and WSH Audits.
5. *Safety Culture:* I learned that safety is not just a rule, it is a culture. A good safety culture can prevent accidents.
*What I’ll Build for the Future:*
With this knowledge, I will not just be a worker, I will be a *Safety Leader*.
– *In My Workplace:* I will build a *Zero Accident Culture*. I will apply what I learned to do proper toolbox talks, conduct safety inspections, and ensure Risk Assessment is done for every high-risk job.
– *For My Team:* I will train my co-workers about heat stress, working at height, and safe work procedures. I will be a buddy who looks out for others.
– *For My Career:* I want to build my career as a WSH Coordinator / and continue to WSH Officer. This course is the foundation for my growth in Singapore construction industry.
