“The Master in HSE programme has been a valuable learning experience that has significantly enhanced my knowledge, skills, and professional perspective. At the beginning of the course, my understanding of safety management was primarily focused on compliance with procedures, regulations, and operational requirements. As the course progressed, I developed a deeper appreciation of the role that human factors play in influencing safety performance and operational effectiveness.
Through the project titled “”Human Factors and Operational Safety in the Use of Dry Chemical Powder Fire Extinguishers in BST Training at OMITC Academy,”” I learned that successful emergency response depends not only on equipment and procedures but also on human behavior, communication, situational awareness, leadership, decision-making, and competence. The course strengthened my ability to identify hazards, assess risks, analyze human error, and implement practical control measures to improve safety outcomes.
One of the most important lessons I learned is that safety is a proactive process that requires continuous improvement and active participation from everyone involved. I also gained greater confidence in conducting safety assessments, preparing reports, presenting findings, and applying safety management principles in real operational environments.
What I Will Build Going Forward
Going forward, I intend to build on the knowledge and skills gained during this programme by continuously improving my professional competence in Health, Safety, and Environment management. I plan to strengthen my expertise in risk management, emergency response, human factors, training development, and safety leadership.
In my professional role, I will place greater emphasis on promoting a positive safety culture, encouraging effective communication, and ensuring that human factors are considered during training, operational planning, and incident investigations. I also intend to pursue additional international certifications and professional development opportunities to remain current with industry best practices.
Personally, I will continue to develop a growth mindset, improve my leadership and communication skills, and maintain a commitment to lifelong learning. The knowledge gained from this programme will help me become a more effective HSE professional and contribute positively to the organizations and individuals I support.”
